St. Leo the Great Elementary School Reviews

My child will be starting her third year here. I would agree on the hidden costs above what the outrageous tuition is already. This is her last year there and I will be finding a home outside of Cleveland. For as much as everyone pays for tuition-almost $4000 per child, there is no need for the $3000 in gift certs which you have to pay $300 if you dont sell, along with Pick 40, etc. Overall it is an ok school since there isn't many other choices for Cleveland in that area.

This school is very cocky, go along with what ever we say with no questions asked or (parents may be invited to place thier child or children in another school) that is right off the registration agreement paragraph 1. and now they are making families buy $3000.00 in certificates, above $3925 in tuition, they claim that it dosnt cost you anything to participate, but it dose how many people pay for everything with credit cards that give cash back or earn credit for college, now u have to use thier certificates or pay them $300.00cash, that dose cost you, first there was the pick40 and now certificates when will the greed ever end, i think they should stop lying about not having airconditioning if u look upon the roof there is one above every classroom just to cheap to use it let the children sweat because its all about the money.

This school is just okay. The teachers could use a bit of training in dealing with a variety of student personalities. The pastor is like a dictator. Very unlike the Christian tradtion this school is supposed to value. I'm very glad this is my child's last year here. I'm hoping to find better success in high school. Unfortunately, there are no real choices in this area, so if you are looking for a good school, you may have to go outside of this area to find one. Good luck

This is a good school , small in size, it could use a little more discipline and be a little more strict with the dress code, students are not following the dress code as much as they should. I really enjoy the school as a whole.

Overall, I had a good experience as a student at St. Leo the Great while I attended the school. All of the teachers that I had were kind and helpful, and always knew how to engage their students. Many of the teachers that I had, especially in the junior high, are still teaching and I know that they are very qualified for their jobs. The administration is very good as well and I experienced the same while I attended there. The extracurricular activities are also very good for the students, especially the variety of sports programs. And the issue about having no air conditioning is not a very valid argument as most high schools in the area also do not have a/c. The children can handle school without any a/c as I did and still do today--it's not the end of the world.

St Leo's is a good school. Like all schools it has it's issues, however, overall my children are happy and are at or above average in most of their subjects. Most of the teachers are very caring and go out of their way to help. The principle is excellent as is the staff.

I've had 3 children go to Leo, and with each 1, it has gotten worse.the jr.high teachers are not in touch with reality, they need to modify there teaching skills to fit the need of the kids now, this is not 1974,be more creative in your approach you might be surprised.

The leadership is heavy-handed and not at all in keeping with Catholic values. It is a shame this school is the lesser of many poor options for schooling in the area. From the Principal to the current pastor the regime is cliquish and exclusionary. There are some well-intentioned educators and some that should never have access to impressionable minds.

I think St. Leo's is a great school. My daughter is very happy at the school and doing well. The teachers are very helpful and caring. The administration listens to parent's concerns and they address any issues. If the teacher is not effective then they are replaced the following school year. I'm not sure why everyone is so concerned about air conditioning. I don't think it's a big deal that there is no a/c- most of the months children attend school you don't need air condititioning anyway.

A negative about this school is the required attendance at a Sunday Mass. I consider this a greedy act - most families cannot find time to attend because they are working to earn money to pay for their child/children's tuition. Some families cannot afford the current tuition and are sometimes required to work on Sundays to earn the money.

St. Leos can be a dream, and a nightmare! The extras like art, music, P.E., and computers are OUTSTANDING! The teachers for these subjects are highly qualified and wonderful people who are serious about their work. The curriculum is just what the kids need. The math, especially in the jr. high area, is highly appreciated. Not only by the students, but the parents also. The religous morals St. Leos is founded on are one of the main reasons why I myself like attending the school! Though there are a number of googd qualities to make St. Leos a wonderful school, there are also a number of negitives. One major issue is the 'LIVESTRONG' braclets, and how some of the teachers are not allowing the students to wear them. I understand some of the students haven't been very responsible, but don't punnish everyone! Some may just say it's to old fashion!

I love St. Leo's. It is not too big and not too small a private School. most of the children in the neighborhood (old brooklyn) attend this school. The teachers and staff are wonderful. They are extremely helpful and give generously of their time before, during and after school hours. My contact with the teachers has most always been met with kindness and helpfulness. They truly want to see all the children strive for higher levels. Most children who graduate from St. Leo's go on to other area catholic highschools. The school is clean, the families are friendly, and there is a team spirit of likemindness. Living in a big city like cleveland, St. Leo's offers my family a small town atmosphere in a big city, somewhat like what I grew up in (a farming community).

Teachers are very poor. Seems like they take to consideration to who they hire. Would not recommend. Very outdated. No a/c. Don't waste your money.

No air conditioning makes it extremely hard on students to stay focused and awake in hot, humid weather. Students can bring water in the class if the teacher allows.
